Over 600 million users who come to us expect top-notch reliability and performance, which our Service Engineering team ensures. This group is responsible for the complete end-to-end operations of our products. We partner very closely with the Product Development community to make sure our products meet very high operability standards in performance, reliability and scalability.  We are seeking a technically savvy Leader to lead the Service Engineering team in Beijing. This prominent, mission-critical, Internet environment comprised of tens of thousands of Linux and FreeBSD servers is at the heart of one of the world’s largest cutting edge Internet Technology Infrastructure and is supported by a high-performance team in an extremely dynamic and fast-paced culture

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain a high-performance operational team, accepting nothing short of excellence in managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the organization.
  • Attract and hire critical top-performing talent into the team
  • Rapidly develop a deep knowledge of the Regional Products and Technologies and develop a close working relationship with the Product development team and other teams who you support and rely on.
  • Represent the team in cross-functional management forums regarding technical, product and incident topics. Requires a working “hands-on” technical understanding of the systems, products, architectures and issues involved.
  • Determine where to allocate service engineering resources across the myriad of opportunities to deliver maximum impact on site availability, performance, maintainability and cost.
  • Work with manager counterparts in the US to establish processes to make the sharing of joint-efforts more efficient and productive.
  • Be an advocate for the operability of the product and support customer needs by working with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Provide thought leadership to your team, in both management and technical aspects
  • Some travel will be required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Master degree and/or MBA is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years in leadership positions managing highly technical teams in support of large mission-critical, highly scalable distributed systems Infrastructure. Experience in the Internet domain is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of attracting, hiring and retaining top-talent.
  • Significant hands-on experience with systems (Linux & Windows)
  • Experience with complex software product/service delivery architectures that involve multiple components supporting large high-volume mission-critical consumer-facing Internet environments.
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Though leadership in managing large teams.
  • Knowledge of typical global enterprise network configurations and environments
  • Track record of strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with people with variety of technical and cultural backgrounds.
  • Track record in successfully working with distributed and remote teams.
  • Strong problem solver with the ability to influence people and drive results in a matrix organization while building long term positive and collaborative relationships. 
  • Developing positive relationships with customers.
